Memberships
A membership links a rider to an organization and determines their eligibility for points and standings. Riders can hold memberships in multiple organizations simultaneously.
Why Memberships Matter
- Point eligibility - Only members of an organization earn points in that organization’s standings
- Division calculation - When an organization’s Point Split Start is set to “Member,” divisions are calculated from the fastest member’s time
- Standings inclusion - Riders without a membership are excluded from that organization’s season standings
Membership Fields
Organization
The organization this membership is for (e.g., IBRA, NBHA).
Member ID
An optional identifier assigned by the organization (e.g., the rider’s NBHA member number). This is for your records and appears on printed materials.
Start Date
When the membership became active. Used for tracking purposes.
Horses
Optionally restrict which horses are covered by this membership:
- No horses selected - All of the rider’s horses are considered registered under this membership
- Specific horses selected - Only those horses earn points for this organization when ridden by this rider
Membership Type
Controls the rider’s level of participation in the organization:
- Full Member - Full eligibility for event payouts and championship standings
- Card Holder - A current card on file with the sanctioning body. Equivalent to Full Member for entry purposes; tagged with credit prefix
C(PRCA Section R1.3) - Permit - Restricted to a single home circuit. Earns event payouts but is excluded from championship/year-end standings. Only available when the organization has Allows Permits enabled
- Youth (Filing Fee) - Filing-fee youth entry. Tagged with credit prefix
F - Associate - Associate membership level
- Non-Member - Tagged with credit prefix
N. Some organizations apply a non-member surcharge or withhold payouts
Credit Prefix
Computed automatically from the membership type and whether a member ID is on file. PRCA Section R1.3 prefixes are stored on the membership row so each entry transmitted to a central entry office (PROCOM, WPRA Procom, etc.) carries a stable tag:
| Membership Type | Member ID present | Prefix |
|---|---|---|
| Full Member / Card Holder | Yes | C |
| Full Member / Card Holder | No | N |
| Permit | - | P |
| Youth | - | F |
| Non-Member | - | N |
| Associate | - | (none) |
Circuit
For organizations that use regional circuits (such as WPRA), select the circuit this rider is affiliated with.
Eligible Circuits (Permit Holders)
For permit holders, the list of circuits the rider is allowed to compete in. Empty means no restriction. Used to enforce the WPRA-style permit cap that restricts a permit holder to their home circuit.
If a rider competes without a membership in a given organization, they still participate and can place - they just won’t earn points or appear in that organization’s standings.
Workflow
- Navigate to the Rider Database and select a rider
- In the rider’s detail view, find the Memberships section
